Trikon Architects has announced a collaboration with Oxfam in Bangladesh on its award-winning initiative aimed at improving living conditions for the boat-dwelling community of Chandpur Sadar. The project, inspired by the cultural rhythms of river-based life, focuses on honoring the traditions of nomadic families who have long called the waterways their home.
The redesigned boat modules feature practical upgrades, including enhanced storage, dedicated kitchen space, and elevated sleeping areas, offering improved safety, hygiene, and comfort without disrupting the community’s familiar way of life.
Oxfam, which has been active in Bangladesh since the 1970s, brings decades of expertise in supporting marginalized groups through funding, advocacy, and partnerships at the grassroots level. Together, Trikon Architects and Oxfam aim to foster healthier and more resilient living conditions while respecting the cultural identity of the riverine community.
The partnership marks a significant step toward integrating thoughtful design with dignity, shaping a future where heritage and well-being can thrive side by side.
