Trikon Architects is an international practice of architects, designers, engineers, and urbanists. Led by its founder and Principal Architect Shafique Rahman, the practice is renowned for many notable achievements in architecture and design.
Founded in 2015, Trikon Architects has developed a diverse portfolio spanning residential and institutional buildings, industrial facilities, mixed-use developments, hospitals, commercial office buildings, public spaces, cultural and religious facilities, recreational facilities, interior design, master planning, and landscape architecture. Based in Dhaka, Bangladesh, the studio delivers comprehensive architectural design solutions and complete services associated with design development, authority approvals, implementation, and construction coordination.
Guided by the core ideologies of reliability, sustainability, service delivery, and contextuality, Trikon Architects upholds consistent professional standards, environmentally responsible design thinking, and client-focused processes. Each project is approached with a deep sensitivity to its context, culture, climate, and community, ensuring architecture that is both responsive and enduring. The practice is supported by a multidisciplinary core team of more than 20 highly skilled professionals, including architects, structural, electrical, plumbing, and HVAC engineers, landscape and urban designers, interior designers, estimators, and 3D visualizers.
All professionals at Trikon Architects are licensed and accredited by relevant national and international authorities, including IAB, RAJUK, IEB, RDA, CDA, KDA, Fire Service & Civil Defence, LEED, and other statutory bodies, ensuring compliance with regulatory standards and professional ethics.
In recent years, the studio has demonstrated exceptional innovation through its success in national and international design competitions. Trikon Architects has received special mentions in international competitions such as “Home After Crisis” (YAC, 2023), “Wildlife Pavilion”, and “Tactical Urbanism” (TerraViva, 2023). Nationally, the firm won first prize in “Envisioning a Safe and Sustainable Life with Architecture for a Water Nomad Community in Bangladesh”, organized by IAB, OXFAM, and CNRS, and secured First Prize in the prestigious Purbachal International Convention Center (PICC) competition organized by IAB and RAJUK in 2024.

Shafique Rahman (b. 1987) is a Bangladeshi architect and educator whose practice is deeply committed to society and the environment. After completing his Bachelor of Architecture from Khulna University, Bangladesh, in 2012, he pursued a Master’s in Sustainable Design from the University of Sydney, Australia, in 2015. During his professional journey, he engaged with organizations in Bangladesh and abroad, notably Crawford Architects in Sydney, where he collaborated with international professionals on housing, refurbishment, and landscape design projects, while also contributing to a diverse range of projects in design development roles throughout his professional career, including commercial and public space design, cultural and religious projects, healthcare and hospitality facilities, and industrial developments. In 2015, Shafique returned to Bangladesh and founded Trikon Architects, where the practice of environment-responsive architecture has become the core ideology. Leading a team of architects and engineers, he has overseen the completion of over 100 projects, ranging from small residences to large-scale public space architecture, earning recognition for their innovative contributions nationally and internationally.
Shafique Rahman is a Registered Architect and a Member of the Institute of Architects Bangladesh (IAB), Rajdhani Unnanyan Kartripakkha (RAJUK) and Dhaka Cantonment Board. He has held positions such as Member Secretary of the Environment and Urbanization Subcommittee in the 24th Executive Council of IAB and was a member of the Public Health Group in the Union of International Architects (UIA) from 2021 to 2023.
His commitment to architecture and urban development has earned him numerous accolades, including the 2nd position in the International Design Competition of the Architects Regional Council of Asia (ARCASIA) in 2020 and many others. His recent achievements are particularly noteworthy. Shafique Rahman won two prestigious national competitions: “Envisioning A Safe and Sustainable Life with Architecture for A Water Nomad Community in Bangladesh,” organized by IAB and OXFAM, and the highly esteemed “Purbachal International Convention Center (PICC)” competition, organized by IAB and RAJUK in 2024.
In addition to his practice, Rahman has contributed meaningfully to academia as an Assistant Professor at the Department of Architecture of AUST from 2016 to 2023. He has published research on environmental sustainability, building materials, urban regeneration, and shape grammar in architecture. His work has been presented at international conferences such as ICMA Malaysia 2019, the International Urban Design Conference in China 2019, ArcAsia Dhaka 2019, and PLEA 2024 in Poland among others.
Shafique Rahman continues to influence the field through his architectural practice, research, and teaching, striving to create spaces that reflect a deep respect for both the built and natural environments.
