Florentia- A Porous Urban Residence in the Heart of Dhaka
On a compact plot of only 2,160 square feet, Florentia redefines urban residential living through a thoughtful balance of efficiency, openness, and community. Located within the dense fabric of Dhaka, the project stands apart for its remarkably porous architectural form—a rare quality in a city where buildings are often constrained by tight setbacks and limited access to natural light and ventilation.
From the moment one enters Florentia, the experience is shaped by a double-height entrance court, which introduces a strong sense of openness and vertical connectivity. This spatial gesture establishes a visual and environmental axis that extends upward to the expressive space-frame roof structure, creating a continuous flow of light, air, and movement throughout the building.
The internal layout is the result of meticulous functional planning. Every square foot has been carefully utilized to maximize efficiency without compromising spatial quality. Compact living areas are enhanced by large openings that invite abundant daylight and cross-ventilation, ensuring that even the smallest spaces feel bright, breathable, and generous.
At the rooftop, Florentia culminates in a shared amenity level featuring a community room and a lush green courtyard. This elevated communal space encourages social interaction, relaxation, and a stronger sense of belonging among residents.
Florentia is more than a multifamily apartment building; it is an exploration of how architecture can transform limited urban land into a vibrant, light-filled, and community-oriented living environment.
